Founded in 2010 — A landscape design & installation studio — Memphis & The Mid-South

— Landscape design, Memphis · Germantown · Collierville

Composition, light, plant, and the way you live in your yard.

A small Memphis studio working exclusively in residential landscape design, install, and care. We take one yard at a time — study its light, soil, and microclimates — and design something that belongs to you and to the place.

Consultations $300, credited to project. We respond within one business day.

In their words.

Three notes from homeowners we've worked with — their houses, their gardens, their words.

They didn't sell us plants. They drew us a yard. After six years it still looks better every season — I get notes from neighbors I've never met.
Margaret L. · Germantown
We'd had two estimates from larger landscaping companies before talking to Staghorn. The difference wasn't even close. They thought about everything — light at different hours, what we'd see from the kitchen, how the colors would shift in October. Quietly the best money we've spent on the house.
David & Anne R. · Collierville
You can tell within five minutes that this isn't a guy who plants shrubs — it's a designer. Worth every penny.
Christopher T. · East Memphis

An approach to landscape.

We design the way an architecture studio designs — for composition, scale, and the long arc of seasons. Most landscape companies are crews that happen to plant; we are designers that happen to dig.

i.

Site, first.

We study your yard's light, soil, microclimate, and bones before a single plant is named. Design follows what the site asks for — not the other way around.

ii.

Plants as material.

Texture, color, the way light moves through foliage at four o'clock in October. We choose plants the way an architect specifies stone — with full attention to what they'll do in the room.

iii.

One project at a time.

Every consultation, every drawing, every install gets our full attention. We don't run crews. We run a studio.

iv.

Built for decades.

Anyone can plant a yard. We design landscapes that age into something better — that hit their stride in year five and look extraordinary in year fifteen.

Three ways we work.

From first sketch to long-term care, the studio handles the full life of a planted landscape — never lawn mowing or routine yard service.

Design

A drawn plan for your yard, grounded in a careful site survey. We draft beds, hedges, trees, and garden structure with full attention to light, sightlines, and how the composition will read across all four seasons.

Plans · Plant lists · Layouts

Install

We oversee every install ourselves — sourcing healthy specimen plants, preparing the soil properly, and placing each plant by eye. No crews dropped off and left to figure it out. Every install is hand-set.

Sourcing · Soil prep · Placement

Care

Ongoing landscape care — the kind a planted garden actually needs. Hand-pruning, seasonal cutbacks, plant health, replacement, and editing as the garden matures. We tend, we don't mow.

Pruning · Seasonal · Plant health

A simple, considered process.

From your first message to the day we set the last plant, the work moves in three deliberate phases.

01

Consult

A ninety-minute walk of your property — light, soil, microclimate notes, and an honest conversation about what's possible.

$300, credited to your project.

02

Design

A drawn plan: beds, plant placements, sightlines, and a written budget. One round of revisions included; we refine until it's right.

Two to four weeks.

03

Install

We source the plants, prepare the soil, and set every specimen by hand. You'll watch the design come into the ground exactly as drawn.

Scheduled around weather.

Recent projects.

Three featured projects below — and a selected archive of more recent work. The full portfolio lives in private; we share it during your consultation.

Questions, answered.

A few things we get asked often. Send the rest by email — we'll answer.

A consultation isn't a sales visit — it's real design work. A careful site walk, soil and microclimate notes, an honest conversation about what your yard can and can't do. We invest a couple of hours preparing for it and a couple more documenting it. The $300 fee respects that work, and it credits in full toward your installed project.

Most of our installed projects fall between $5,000 and $35,000, depending on scope. We work primarily on standard residential lots and zero-lot-line homes — not large estates. If your project is smaller or larger than that range, we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right studio for it.

No. Our care work is for the planted landscape only — hand-pruning, seasonal cutbacks, plant health, replacement, editing as the garden matures. For lawn mowing and routine yard service, we recommend a dedicated maintenance crew.

A typical timeline is four to eight weeks: consultation, design, revisions, then install scheduled around weather and plant availability. We design slowly and install carefully. Anyone moving faster than that is moving too fast.

Not as primary work. We focus on the planted landscape — beds, hedges, trees, garden structure. We collaborate happily with hardscape contractors and pool builders when a project calls for it, but the planted composition is what we are.

Yes — fully licensed and insured for residential landscape design and install in the State of Tennessee. Documentation provided on request.

A site walk. A drawn plan. A yard you'll keep.

Consultations are $300, credited fully to your installed project. Ninety minutes on-site, soil and microclimate notes, an honest conversation about what's possible — and what isn't.
